Do you already know Distomicide and its benefits in your cattle?

Distomicide is an internal antiparasitic in form of an injectable solution based on Nitroxinil, indicated for the treatment of hepatic distomatosis, gastrointestinal nematodosis and ovine oestrosis.

It also stands out for its cycle interrupting effect by eliminating adult faciolas, acting actively against Fasciola hepatica and Fasciola gigantica, adult and larval forms of Haemonchus contortus, Haemonchus placei, Oesophaostomum radiatum, Bunostomun phlebotomun and Oestrus ovis.

Likewise, it is rapidly absorbed (2 hours) since the time of administration, resulting in high plasma concentrations and greater persistence in serum.

This last factor, as well as its accumulation in the viscera (liver, kidney) promotes the presence of active molecules that constantly eliminate the larval phases of Fasciola, as they grow and increase their sensitivity to the action of Nitroxinil.

What is fasciolosis?

Fasciolosis is a parasitic disease of high incidence, it is basically considered a zooanthroponosis since it is a common disease in various herbivorous animals. It can be acquired by humans and can present in two courses.

Chronic course

Characterized by being the most frequent. Within these are the most damaging stages: adult parasites and immature parasites older than 8 weeks that cause damage to the bile canaliculi, anemia and a decrease in plasma proteins, which can cause sudden death in animals.

Acute course

The acute phase occurs due to the ingestion of a large number of metacercariae in a short time. It can last from weeks to months after ingestion of the metacercariae and can finally lead to hemorrhagic anemia and death within 1-2 days.

What are the main losses due to fasciolosis?

  • Growth retardation (30%)
  • Weight reduction (25%)
  • Decrease meat production, milk (5-10 liters/day) or wool.
  • Reproductive disorders.
  • Increased food consumption due to poor digestion.

What are the features and benefits of Distomicide?

Distomicide is characterized by the following:

  • It is a product without resistors.
  • High efficiency.
  • It is more than a fasciolicide.
  • It has a high persistence
